Awakening

Slipping slowly under the anaesthetic
Peaceful dreams as the surgeons perform
I'm lost to the oblivion of the drugs
Totally unaware of the forthcoming storm

Chaos and mayhem surround me, unaware
Panic and destruction to screams of evacuate
Trolleys moved with haste to the safety of the beach
Congregating in fear of the vibrating earthquake

The brain awakes slowly functioning not thinking
Eyes flicker half open staring straight ahead
Bright coloured birds swoop above me
It dawns on my mind I must be dead

"They have those on earth too" I say to a figure in white
A nurse she is stroking my hand "Yes dear, everything will be alright'
