What Do You See?

What do you see as you stare at me?
Do you see the mother, loving and caring?
Doing all that she can so her children are the best they can be
Teaching the benefits of loving and sharing
Showing love unconditional and always for free
Mother and child, a unique and most blessed pairing
What do you see as you stare whilst you sit?
Or are just looking at nothing, a candle unlit?

What do you see as you look at the roses red?
The intricate petals closed in a bud tight
Keeping warm from the breeze, the young sweet head
Ready to burst into full glory at the kiss of sunlight
A beauty of heart shaped petals to the warm rays they spread
Tips glistening from the mornings soft due, sparkling bright
What do you see aimlessly sitting sat gazing into space?
A look of dull boredom shadowing your face

What do you hear each morning as you walk?
The shrill birdsong as the world greets the day
The chitter chatter of children on the way to school, they talk
The topic last nights episode of East Enders as they make their way
The rustle of wind through the trees and grass stalk
The sounds all around us, open your ears, hear what it say
What do you hear in your life with no cares?
Missing the joys of nature, for us all laid bare
